Product Manager North America

Your contribution:
As Product Manager you report to the Managing Director and you are the ultimate source of technical information regarding HZPC potato varieties.  You support our team and our customers in the North American potato value chain.  You do this by collecting, interpreting and sharing precise product knowledge of HZPC potato varieties in such a way that the client may fully realize the potential qualities of our varieties.
As Product Manager you are responsible for the following primary tasks:

• Variety registrations – Manage the importation and registration of HZPC varieties within North America
  • Variety import permits and managing tissue cultures thru quarantine
  • Variety registrations, PVP and PBR filings with U.S.D.A. and C.F.I.A.
• New variety development – Cooperating with Research Program colleagues, gather, analyse and develop varietal information
  • Manage trial programs within the US and Canada, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders
  • Collect and analyse data from the different testing stages
  • Develop technical data and variety descriptions
  • Create introduction plans of new varieties based on market and industry acumen
• Variety portfolio management – Strengthen the HZPC North American portfolio by understanding market needs and analysing for opportunities
  • Act as a linking-pin between commercial and production activities to understand the needs of the market
  • Maintain the Product Life Cycle (PLC) chart of varieties by segment
• Support commercial and production activities in North America by visiting growers and clients
• Functionally support both internal and external parties with growing advices.

​Your profile:
You are enthusiastic and passionate about our products and you are a true technical specialist. You challenge our clients and colleagues to continuously improve both the products and services we offer. You can deal with multiple projects and tasks at the same time while maintaining (strategic) overview. You understand our customers and the market you are working in and have good communication skills.  
You live in (or willing to move to) either the U.S. or Canada and may work from your home-based office as this position requires regular travel within North America (60-70%).  You also have:

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in plant science, or related field.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in agronomy and crop production.
• Agronomical knowledge of HZPC varieties is a strong plus.
• A high proficiency in trial setup, data management and statistics.
• Knowledge of database, data ownership and data quality.
• An ability to build professional relationships with confidence.
• A high degree of independency (able to work independently, self-starter mentality, taking initiatives and detail oriented).
• Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written) as well as good listening and presentation skills.
